No one wants to think about death, but spending time now dealing with the inevitable, could save your family a lot of heartache and potentially money.
WHAT DO YOU NEED TO CONSIDER WHEN MAKING A WILL?
Think about your own circumstances. Below are some questions to ask yourself:
- Who should benefit from your estate?
- Do you need to plan for inheritance tax?
- Do you have assets in different countries?
- Do you need to provide for children from a previous marriage, whilst still providing for a current partner?
- Will your partner be able to stay in your home if you die?
- Do you have adult children who live with you?
- Do you have a beneficiary who is in receipt of benefits?
Some wills are going to be more straightforward than others but for many people there are other factors that mean a bit more thought is required. You might want to make sure that not only do the right people inherit but also that other people specifically do not. If you don’t have a will, there is a chance that other family members will automatically benefit under the rules of Intestacy.
Here at Thornes we can steer you through the process of making your will, giving you sensible and practical advice. A little bit of planning now can make all the difference in the future.
